What if my Kua is 5? ▼

Kua 5 has no independent directions. Males use Kua 2 directions (West Group). Females use Kua 8 directions (West Group). Both are West Group members.

Can spouses with different Kua numbers share a bedroom? ▼

Yes. Prioritise the breadwinner's directions for the bed orientation. Use a bridge element in the centre of the room to harmonise cross-group energies. Aim for a direction neutral to both if perfect alignment is impossible.

Does Kua change each year? ▼

No. Your Kua is fixed by birth year and gender for life. However, the Annual Flying Stars shift yearly and interact with your fixed Kua, changing the quality of sectors each year.

What is the Chinese New Year adjustment? ▼

The Chinese solar year begins around Feb 4 (Li Chun, Start of Spring). If born in January or before Feb 4, subtract one year. This calculator handles this automatically.

Which rooms are most important in Feng Shui? ▼

Priority order: (1) Main door — mouth of chi, (2) Master bedroom — health and luck, (3) Kitchen — governs wealth and health, (4) Living room — social energy, (5) Study/home office — career and clarity.

How do I fix a missing corner (L-shaped home)? ▼

Place a mirror on the wall of the missing sector to energetically extend the space. A bright outdoor light in the missing corner also works. Alternatively, place the element enhancement of that sector's Ba Gua zone in the nearest available wall area.

What is Period 9 and why does it matter? ▼

Period 9 (2024–2043) is governed by Fire and the number 9. Star 9 (Purple Star) becomes the most auspicious wealth star. Homes with facing/sitting directions that favour Star 9 will thrive. Activate the South sector (Star 9 permanent home) with fire and light energy.

Stand at the Main Door
Face inward. The wall with your main door is always the bottom of the Ba Gua. Career sector (Kan/North) sits at the front-centre.

Divide your floor plan into a 3×3 grid. Each cell = one Ba Gua sector. This applies to the whole home, individual rooms, and even your desk.

Activate Positive Sectors
Place the correct element, color, and symbols in each sector to strengthen that life area. Remove clutter — stagnant chi blocks all sectors.

Fix Missing Corners
L-shaped or irregular homes have missing Ba Gua sectors. Use mirrors, lights, or crystals to energetically complete the missing area.

Two Systems: This app uses the Classical Compass Ba Gua (based on actual compass directions N/S/E/W). The BTB/Western system aligns the front door to North regardless of compass — choose one system and be consistent.
